Safe space level 3

Timings: 7pm - 10pm

Training location: Sawtry WI Hall, Gidding Road, PE28 5TS

Safe Space is about keeping girls and leaders safe whilst at meetings and knowing what to do in situations where people are at risk. All leaders need to complete safe space and then every three years. The number of levels you need to complete depends on your role.

A Safe Space Level 1 – An Introduction. A basic introduction to our safeguarding policy and processes, your role and responsibility, Volunteer Code of Conduct, what to do if you have concerns about a member and where to go for help.

All volunteers including those who do not have regular contact with the girls such as an occasional helper, parent helper, GO administrator, home contact and young leaders doing the young leader qualification need to complete an online Level 1 course to be found on www.girlguiding.org.uk.

A Safe Space Level 2 – Creating a Safe Space. This covers what is a safe space and why it is important, what to do if you have concerns about a member, how to create a safe space, what to do if it isn’t safe, how to keep yourself safe and where to go to for help.

If you are a Unit Helper, Assistant Leader, Leader, Leader in Training, Young Leader and those doing Level 3 & 4 then you need to complete Level 2 online. The course can be found on www.girlguiding.org.uk . The course includes an online assessment. Instead of the online assessment, you can opt to have a face to face assessment with your Commissioner.

A Safe Space Level 3 – Recognising, telling and taking action. This covers what to do if someone tells you about a concern, allegation or disclosure, how to recognise there is a concern, how you can support and help someone tell their story safely, how to take action and with whom, where to get help.

If you are leading a team of adults, a leader in charge (at least one leader per unit with module four of the Leadership qualification), mentor, adviser, coordinator (except GO coordinators), licence holder on residential, you need to complete a Level 3 on line module found on www.girlguiding.org.uk before attending a Level 3 Training.

A Safe Space Level 4 – Managing concerns, allegations and disclosures. This course is for all commissioners.

PLEASE NOTE THAT LEVEL 3 AND LEVEL 4 TRAINING COURSES WILL BE ADVERTISED BY ANGLIAN REGION OFFICE (HAUBOIS HOUSE) AND PROVIDED LOCALLY IN COUNTY.
